Delta+ is a network of six Danish municipalities and water utilities facing flooding in dense urban areas caused by sea level rise in their fiords.
Through four thematic workshops in 2016 and 2017 the network will investigate how to create new and specialized solutions that both protects our cities and provides new opportunities for urban development and the surrounding environment.
The network was initiated because of the firm understanding that coastal protection needs to be solved collaboratively, or we will only push the problem further along the coast to neighboring areas and municipalities. Therefore, it is crucial that we start looking for new financial models that can raise the needed capital for new solutions and look at ways to organize us across municipalities and public and private authorities and organizations.
We believe that it is essential that we work together to think of new solutions that not only protects us against the rising waters but enables us to use the challenge as an opportunity for creating more liveable cities with room for both people and water.
The participating municipalities are: Odense, Vejle, Horsens, Kolding, Skive and Middelfart.
